Ducktown Basin Museum

Did you know that in the 1970's when NASA took a photo of the southeastern United States from outer space the most visible landmark they could see was a ring of bright orange in the middle of lush green vegetation? That orange spot was the vegatation stripped Copper Basin!  Learn a bit more about the fascinating history of the Copper Basin.  Walk through the museum and check out the scenic view from the museum's observation platform where you can look out over a collapsed mine shaft and preserved section of Mars-like landscape created by the smelting process used during the copper mining boom. 423-496-5778
